This Half Day Mingun Sightseeing Tour will bring you to a well known site in Sagaing region in the opposite river Bank of Mandalay. This trip is special because you will take the private boat passing the Irrawaddy River to be able to visit Mingun. It is recommended to do the tour in the morning to avoid the strong wind and waves as well as the high temperature in the afternoon.
Half Day Mingun Exploring
From your hotel in Mandalay, our guide and driver will pick-up you for a short drive to the Mandalay Jetty. Then you will take a private boat across Irrawaddy River to Mingun. The boating way from Mandalay to Mingun is upstream and it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes boating. The boating back is downstream, so it will take about 1 hour.
Arrive Mingun and you will firstly visit the unfinished Mingun Pagoda (Mingun Paya) built in brick by King Bodawpaya. Your guide will help you know the reason why it wasn’t finished and would have been one of the most world’s largest pagodas. Being affected by many earthquakes, the monument was fracture and just renowned the partial like nowadays. Walking through the village and you will reach the Hsinbyume Pagoda, attract tourists by its history and unique white color. Before back to Mandalay, you will visit Mingun Bell – the second largest working bell in the world with the weight of 90 tons, which plays an important role in religious affairs of local community
