As the last village in the northern Myanmar, with convenient topography for trekking, Putao has been a popular trekking site of most of the travelers who are interested in exploring the rustic beauty of the hidden lands of Myanmar. 7 days 6 nights trekking around Putao region are great time which allows you to discover in depth scenery as well as local life of the region.
Arrival at Putao – Shangaung village (L/D)
Upon arrival at Putao airport, you will be picked up to the downtown of Putao located in a flat valley. This is popular stopover of trekkers in their exploration of lush forests, spectacular mountains and wildlife areas. Take your time to fresh up at a local restaurant before taking a jeep tour for around 1 hour drive to Shangaung village. This is one of the big villages inhabited by both Lisu and Rawan tribes.

Shangaung – Wasandum ( Trek) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, set off your trekking tour to Wasandum village through the majestic Mt. Shangaung. In the first 10 km, you will trek up along the winding trail to reach the top of the mountain and then trek down to Wasandum. This will be a fascinating experience when you feel clearly the change in altitude and scenery as you venture to the top. Upon arrival at Wasandum – a small village of Rawan, check in a village house.

Wasandum – Awadum – Ziyadum (Trek) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, continue your journey towards Ziyadum on a quite flat land. In the first 3 hour trekking, you will cross Namro Creek to Awadum. Awadum is a small village of Lisu tribes which is divided into two parts by a large paddy field. From there, you will cross a suspension bridge which connects Namlang creek and Kalang village.
Afterwards, continue your 2 hour trekking to Ziyadum through deep evergreen forests. Ziyadum is the most northwestern village in Putao region and mainly inhabited by Rawan tribes. You could pay a visit to Ziya creek to enjoy a stunning sunset.

Ziyadum – Chaungzone – Ziyadum (Trek) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, from the village, start you 3 hour trekking to Chaungzone camp. In the first stage, you will cross Phangran creek through the suspension bridge and an evergreen forest. It is a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Take your time to enjoy lunch on the bank of the rocky river and then trek back to the village.
Take a sightseeing tour around the village to explore the nature and culture of the village. With the great location on the bank of Ziyarriver and in the valley of green forest, you will get authentic beauty of nature and culture of northern Myanmar.

Ziyadum – Kalang – Wasundum (Trek) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, start to trek to Kalang village for about 3 hours. It is located between the green forest and crystal clear water river. You will venture into villages to get a true insight into the local way of life and their traditions. After a sightseeing tour around villages, enjoy lunch in a local house.
After lunch, cross over the suspension bridge at Awadum and through the lush forest. This is one of the most beautiful places for taking photos.
Arrive back at Wasundum village in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at a traditional house at Wasundum village.
Wasundum – Shangaung (B/L/D)
After breakfast, continue your journey to Shangaung village. You will go uphill to the plateau of Mt. Shangaung and then downhill to Shangaung.
In the evening, there will be a farewell dinner at a village house in Shangaung village.
Shanguang – Putao – Mandalay / Yangon (B)
In the morning, head back to Putao and take some time to visit the morning market and enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant. Afterwards, transfer to the airport for a flight to Yangon or Mandalay.
